The Planning & Development Department, Government of Sindh, invites applications for the following positions:

Chief Economist (MP Scale-1)

  • No. of Posts: 01
Required Qualification/Experience:

  • PhD in Economics from an HEC-recognized university with 8 years of professional experience in planning, data analysis, and managing projects/programs.
  • OR Master’s degree in Economics with 12 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience working with World Bank, Asian Development Bank, and donor agencies is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and recommend economic policies and programs.
  • Collect and analyze data for aid agencies and evaluate economic appraisals.
  • Address delays in project implementation and propose solutions.
  • Assist administrative departments in securing foreign aid for development schemes.
  • Coordinate foreign training, study tours, and development activities in the province.
  • Represent the Chairman, P&D Board, at meetings like CDWP/ECNEC in Islamabad.
  • Supervise sections including Foreign Aid, Appraisal, and Bureau of Statistics.

Joint Chief Economist (SMP Scale-II)

  • No. of Posts: 01
Required Qualification/Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Economics from an HEC-recognized university with 10 years of professional experience.
  • OR PhD in Economics with 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Preference for candidates with experience working with World Bank, Asian Development Bank, and donor agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Chief Economist in analyzing economic policies and programs.
  • Collect and analyze data for aid agencies and project evaluations.
  • Address challenges in project implementation and promote solutions.
  • Coordinate foreign training, study tours, and development activities.
  • Represent the Chairman, P&D Board, at CDWP/ECNEC meetings in Islamabad.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Chief Economist.

General Information

  • Age Limit: Maximum age is 62 years (calculated as of the application deadline).
  • Salary: Selected candidates will receive remuneration as per the Sindh Management Position Scales Policy, 2022.
  • Contract Duration: Initial contract of 2 years, extendable based on performance.
